Dr Jenny Groarke
Lecturer in Psychology
I'm a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Galway, and I also hold the title of Honorary Lecturer in Health Psychology at Queen's University Belfast. I'm a professional singer, and this has deeply influenced my approach to psychology research.

I study how feelings like stress, anxiety, and loneliness are linked to different activities like music listening, singing, and exercising. I'm interested in understanding how these connections affect our health, particularly in areas like mental health, cancer, and obesity.

Research Areas
Music, Health, & Technology
My research takes a highly interdisciplinary approach, integrating various fields such as music science, clinical psychology, and digital health.
My work delves into a range of subjects, including the impact of music listening on mental health, innovative strategies to combat loneliness, support for individuals adjusting to a cancer diagnosis, and the development of user-centric technologies for improved health outcomes.
